Matrix Multiplication

MediumPython

Problem

Implement Matrix Multiplication

Asked in the Onsite stage. Coding round question similar to standard LeetCode matrix multiplication problems (LeetCode 311).

Input and Output

Implement multiply_matrices(A, B). A and B are non-empty rectangular matrices represented as lists of integer lists. Return their product as a new matrix. Matrix multiplication is valid when the number of columns in A equals the number of rows in B. If the dimensions are incompatible, return [].

Constraints

  • 1 <= len(A), len(B) <= 100
  • 1 <= len(A[0]), len(B[0]) <= 100
  • All rows within each matrix have equal length
  • A and B contain integers from -100 to 100
  • If the number of columns in A differs from the number of rows in B, return []
