Marketing attribution work often requires stitching together campaign touchpoints, lead conversion events, and opportunity outcomes across Salesforce data. Interviewers ask this to assess whether you can explain not just SQL syntax, but the business logic and trade-offs behind a complex analytical query.
Explain a complex SQL query you recently wrote to solve a marketing attribution problem. Your answer should walk through how you would join Salesforce campaign member, lead/contact, and opportunity data; how you would use CTEs and window functions to sequence touches; and how you would apply CASE WHEN logic to assign attribution credit such as first-touch, last-touch, or weighted multi-touch.
Go beyond reciting clauses in order. The interviewer expects you to explain grain, deduplication, attribution windows, handling of null or duplicate touchpoints, and why your query structure was maintainable and trustworthy for downstream reporting.
