JSON Parsing With Edge Cases

HardPython

Problem

Write a function to parse a JSON object and handle potential edge cases.

Implement parse_json_object(json_text), which accepts a string and returns a Python dictionary for a valid JSON object. Return None for malformed JSON, empty or whitespace-only input, valid JSON values that are not objects, duplicate keys, or non-standard constants such as NaN. Nested objects and arrays are valid values. For example, '{"a": 1}' returns {"a": 1}, while '[1, 2]' returns None.

Constraints

  • json_text is expected to be a Python string or a non-string invalid input.
  • The input may contain nested objects and arrays.
  • A successful result must have a JSON object at the top level.
  • Return None for malformed JSON, duplicate keys, non-object top-level values, and non-standard constants.

Function Signature
