Investigating Metric Drops

MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

You notice a sudden, significant drop in a key metric—what is your step-by-step process for investigating the root cause?

Using the provided tables, identify metric and segment combinations whose latest three-day average is at least 15% below the preceding three-day average. Ignore observations with a NULL metric value.

Output

  1. One row per qualifying metric and segment.
  2. Columns: metric_name, segment, previous_avg, current_avg, and percent_change.
  3. Sort by percent_change ascending, then metric_name and segment ascending.
