Asked in the Round 2, system design stage. Started at startup scale and grew, so think about DB design, APIs, reservations, caching, Redis, Elasticsearch, CDC, outbox, sharding, read replicas, and consistency. Follow-up: if product listing returns 50 products, should we call the inventory service 50 times? If not, how do you solve it? Follow-up: how should inventory visibility work when stock is very low, customer experience vs business trade-off?
