Inner Join vs Left Join

EasySQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

What is the difference between an inner join and a left join?

Write a PostgreSQL query using the provided users and assignments tables to demonstrate the difference by returning every user, including users without an assignment. Include matched assignment details when available and label each result as assigned or unassigned.

Output

  1. One row per assignment for matched users, plus one row for each user without an assignment.
  2. Return user_id, user_name, assignment_id, project_name, and assignment_status.
  3. Sort by user_id, then assignment_id, with unassigned users after assigned rows.
