If-Else With Break | Dataford Interview Questions

The Anonymous batch validator receives an ordered list of integer values. Valid values are non-negative and should be added to the running total. A negative value marks the first invalid record, so processing must stop immediately.

Implement sum_until_negative(nums) using a loop, an if-else condition, and break. Return the sum of all consecutive non-negative values before the first negative value. Values after the first negative value must not affect the result.

Formal Specification

Input: nums, a list of integers.
Output: An integer representing the sum of the prefix containing only non-negative values.
If the first value is negative, return 0.
If no value is negative, return the sum of the entire list.

Constraints

0 <= len(nums) <= 10^4
-10^9 <= nums[i] <= 10^9
The input list may be empty
