Group Anagrams and Frontend/Backend Tradeoffs

MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

Tell me about how you would group anagrams, and explain how you think about backend and frontend technologies for delivering the feature.

Use the supplied word-set and word-entry data. Return only anagram groups containing at least two distinct normalized words.

Output

  1. One row per anagram group, with set_name, signature, anagram_count, and words.
  2. Normalize words by trimming and comparing case-insensitively; ignore NULL or empty values.
  3. Sort by set_name, then signature.
