Find Missing Numbers

MediumPython

Problem

Given a sorted list of numbers between 1 and 99, print the numbers that are missing in a specified format.

Implement format_missing_numbers(nums), which returns a string listing every missing value from 1 through 99 in ascending order. Represent a consecutive run as start-end and a single missing value as that number, with comma-separated entries and no spaces. For example, [1, 2, 4, 5, 7] returns 3,6,8-99, while a complete list returns an empty string.

The input contains distinct values in strictly increasing order.

Constraints

  • 0 <= nums.length <= 99
  • 1 <= nums[i] <= 99
  • nums is strictly increasing
  • Each value appears at most once
