Filter Array by Property

EasyPython

Problem

Micro1's candidate review surface receives an array of profile objects and needs to display only profiles matching a selected property. Write a function that returns every object whose specified property equals a target value.

The function must preserve the input order, include duplicate matches, and exclude objects that do not contain the requested property. Do not mutate the original array or its objects.

Formal Specification

Implement filter_objects(items, key, value).

  • items is a list of dictionaries.
  • key is a string naming the property to inspect.
  • value is a JSON-compatible value, such as a string, number, boolean, or null.
  • Return a new list containing references to the objects where key exists and items[i][key] == value.

Constraints

  • 0 <= len(items) <= 10^4
  • Each item is a dictionary with string keys
  • The requested key may be absent from any item
  • Property values are JSON-compatible
  • The input list and its objects must not be mutated

Function Signature
