Explain how you would implement a 3-tab widget that fetches and displays phrases in dif...

MediumPython

Problem

Create a widget with 3 tabs, each showing a phrase in a different language fetched from the backend

Asked in the onsite stage. Implement create_language_tabs(records) to build the widget's tab data.

Each record contains language, phrase, and integer position. Keep one record per language, choosing the smallest position when duplicates exist. Return exactly three tab objects ordered by position, each containing only language and phrase.

Example: [{"language":"es","phrase":"Hola","position":2},{"language":"en","phrase":"Hello","position":1},{"language":"fr","phrase":"Bonjour","position":3}] returns English, Spanish, then French.

Constraints: At least three records, exactly three distinct languages, unique positions after deduplication.

Constraints

  • 3 <= len(records) <= 10^4
  • Each record contains language, phrase, and position
  • There are exactly three distinct language values
  • position is an integer
  • The selected records have distinct positions
