Your question is Equity Research Interest. Take a moment with it on the right.

Problem

Why equity research?

Asked in the HR phone interview stage, this is a basic fit question. The interviewer is assessing whether you understand what equity research involves and can connect the work to your interests, skills, and career goals. A strong response should be specific rather than describing finance broadly. Explain what attracts you to fundamental analysis, company research, writing, communicating an investment view, and the ongoing process of updating your perspective when new information emerges. Avoid presenting equity research only as a pathway to another career.
