Employee Max Salary Query

EasySQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

Xccelerated's engineering directory needs a report showing every employee who earns the company's maximum recorded salary. Write a PostgreSQL query that preserves qualifying employees even when their department is missing from the directory.

Requirements

  1. Find the maximum non-NULL salary across all employees.
  2. Return every employee whose salary equals that maximum, including ties.
  3. Display the employee name, salary, and department name. Use a LEFT JOIN so a qualifying employee without a matching department is retained.
  4. Order the result alphabetically by employee name.
