Email Validation Function

Email Validation Function

EasyPython

Problem

Write a simple function to validate an email address.

Implement validate_email(email) to return True when the string has a valid simple structure and False otherwise. Accept local parts containing letters, digits, ., _, %, +, and -; require exactly one @, a nonempty local part, and a domain containing valid dot-separated labels. Reject whitespace, consecutive dots, leading or trailing dots, and labels beginning or ending with -.

Examples: "qa.user@example.com" returns True; "qa@@example.com" returns False.

The input is a string, and the output is a Boolean.

Constraints

  • 1 <= len(email) <= 10^4
  • email contains printable ASCII characters
  • A domain must contain at least two dot-separated labels
  • This task validates simplified syntax, not the complete RFC email standard
