Efficient Merge of Sorted Arrays

MediumPython

Problem

Given two sorted arrays, how would you merge them into a single sorted array efficiently?

Implement merge_sorted_arrays(nums1, nums2), returning a new array containing all values from both inputs in nondecreasing order. Use the two-pointer approach, preserve duplicate values, and do not modify either input array.

Constraints

  • 0 <= len(nums1), len(nums2) <= 10^4
  • -10^9 <= nums1[i], nums2[i] <= 10^9
  • nums1 and nums2 are sorted in nondecreasing order
  • The returned array must contain all input values
  • Neither input array may be modified
