SQL Duplicate Detection

EasySQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

Euronet Worldwide needs to identify duplicate customer profiles in its customer master table before downstream payment and transfer workflows use the wrong record. Write a SQL query to find all duplicated profiles based on the same first name, last name, and date of birth.

Requirements

  1. Return each duplicate profile group once, with the shared identifying fields.
  2. Include a duplicate_count showing how many rows share that profile.
  3. Only return groups with more than one row.
  4. Sort results by duplicate_count descending, then by name.
