Do You Prefer Frontend or Backend

Your question is Do You Prefer Frontend or Backend. Take a moment with it on the right.

Talk me through your thinking if you like. When you're confident, submit your answer and I'll grade it like a real screen (7/10 or better passes).

You need to log in / sign up to chat or submit.

Problem

Do you prefer front end or backend?

Explain which area you prefer and why, using a specific project or responsibility from your experience. Describe what you contributed, how you collaborated with engineers working in the other area, and whether your preference has changed based on project needs.

This probes self-awareness, technical motivation, adaptability, and ownership rather than testing whether you choose frontend or backend. A strong answer gives a clear preference, supports it with concrete experience, acknowledges tradeoffs, and shows willingness to work across Spotify's client and service layers when the team needs it.
