Detect Cyclic Access Control Roles

MediumPython

Problem

Write a program to detect cyclic dependencies in a system of access control roles.

Represent roles as a dictionary mapping each role to the roles it depends on. Implement has_role_cycle(roles), returning True if any dependency cycle exists and False otherwise. All referenced roles are assumed to appear as keys in the dictionary.

Constraints

  • 1 <= number of roles <= 500
  • Each role name is a non-empty string
  • Each dependency refers to a role present in the dictionary
  • A role may depend on zero or more roles

Function Signature

def has_role_cycle(roles):
