Welcome to your interview.
The question is on your right: Design a Scalable New Service. Take a moment with it first.
Talk your thinking through with me if you like - when you're confident, submit your answer and I'll grade it like a real screen (7/10 or better passes). Discussion and graded submissions share your five interviewer interactions, so spend them well.
You are the Engineering Manager owning the early design for a new customer-facing service inside a storage operations platform. The product team wants a fast path to launch, but the service will need to support multiple regions, integrate with several internal systems, and avoid creating a fragile one-off architecture that will be hard to extend later. You also have a mix of senior and mid-level engineers, one shared platform dependency, and pressure from leadership to show progress quickly without overcommitting the team.
How would you approach designing a scalable system for this new service?
