Define and Maintain Clean Code

MediumPython

Problem

How do you define clean code? What are things that can be done to keep code clean for longer?

Treat the question as a small static-analysis task: identify objective maintainability issues in a list of source lines. Return issues for lines exceeding a length limit, consecutive duplicate nonblank lines, and functions exceeding a line-count limit.

Use find_clean_code_issues(lines, max_line_length, max_function_lines). lines is a list of source-code strings. Return issue dictionaries containing line, type, and message, ordered by line number.

Constraints

  • 0 <= len(lines) <= 10^4
  • 0 < max_line_length <= 10^4
  • 0 < max_function_lines <= 10^4
  • Each input element is a source-code line
  • Function definitions begin with optional indentation followed by def
