Calculate Campaign Conversion Rates and Performance Bands

MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

How did you use data to solve a problem or answer a question?

Demonstrate your answer with a PostgreSQL query using the supplied campaign data. Summarize active campaigns launched between 2025-01-01 and 2025-03-31, including campaigns with no qualifying activity.

Output

  1. One row per qualifying campaign with campaign_id, campaign_name, total_clicks, total_conversions, conversion_rate, and performance_band.
  2. Include all qualifying campaigns, calculate the rate as conversions divided by clicks times 100, and use 0 when clicks are zero.
  3. Sort by conversion_rate descending, then campaign_id ascending.

Output details

  • Restrict qualifying activity to events dated inclusively from 2025-01-01 through 2025-03-31.
  • Count only events whose event_type is exactly click or conversion, without deduplicating rows.
  • Round conversion_rate to two decimal places, including zero as 0.00.
  • Assign performance_band as No activity for zero clicks, High for rates at least 50, Medium for rates at least 10, and Low otherwise.
