Cyclic Cron Ranges | Dataford Interview Questions

Extend your cron parser to support cyclic (wrap-around) ranges, e.g. day-of-week 5-2 yields 5,6,7,1,2.

Implement expand_day_of_week_range(expression). The input is a string containing either one day number or an inclusive range in the form start-end, where days are integers from 1 through 7. Return a list in traversal order. Non-cyclic ranges proceed upward, while cyclic ranges continue from 7 back to 1.

Constraints

The input is a valid string containing either D or D-D.
Each day number is an integer from 1 through 7.
Ranges are inclusive.
The input contains no spaces.
