How would you count characters in a string?

Implement count_characters(s) to return a dictionary mapping each character to its number of occurrences. Count every character, including spaces and punctuation, and treat uppercase and lowercase letters as different characters. The input is a string, and the output is a dictionary of character counts.

Constraints

0 <= len(s) <= 10^5
The input may contain letters, digits, whitespace, and punctuation
Character comparisons are case-sensitive
