Cinema Booking Database Design

MediumSQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

Design a cinema booking database with a list of all the cinemas in an area and show timings with booked and available seats.

Assume the target area is Central. Include cinemas that currently have no shows, and count only confirmed bookings toward booked seats.

Output

  1. One row per cinema show, plus one row for each cinema without a show.
  2. Columns: cinema_id, cinema_name, show_id, show_start, booked_seats, available_seats.
  3. Include only cinemas in Central, ordered by cinema_id, then show start time, with cinemas without shows last.
