C Swap Without Temporary Variable

EasyPython

Problem

In an IBS Software iFly Res integration, two integer configuration values may need to be exchanged before processing. Implement a function that swaps the values of two variables without declaring or using a temporary variable.

The function should return the values in swapped order. Do not modify external state, and do not use arithmetic, XOR, or any additional data structure in the primary solution. Python tuple unpacking is allowed.

Formal Specification

Implement swap_values(a, b):

  • Input: Two integers, a and b.
  • Output: A two-element tuple (b, a) containing the values in reverse order.
  • The original values may be equal, zero, positive, or negative.
  • A temporary variable must not be declared.

Constraints

  • -10^9 <= a, b <= 10^9
  • Both inputs are integers
  • Return exactly two values in swapped order

Function Signature

def swap_values(a, b):
