Build CRUD REST API

MediumPython

Problem

Build an api with CRUD operations using this starter code.

Implement a function that processes one operation at a time against an in-memory store of records. The function should accept a JSON object with an operation field and the required payload for that operation, then return the result of the requested CRUD action.

Input

request: a JSON object with one of these forms:

  • {"operation": "create", "record": {"id": int, "name": str}}
  • {"operation": "read", "id": int}
  • {"operation": "update", "id": int, "updates": { ... }}
  • {"operation": "delete", "id": int}

Output

Return the created or updated record, the requested record, or true/false for delete and missing-record cases.

Constraints

  • Each request contains exactly one operation
  • Record ids are unique integers
  • Updates only include fields that should change
  • The store starts empty
  • Return None when a record does not exist for read or update
