Balanced Parentheses in JSON

MediumPython

Problem

Given a JSON type object, check if parentheses are balanced or not (variant of Valid Parentheses).

Asked in the OA stage. Treat the input as a string containing JSON text, and validate only the bracket characters (), {}, and []. Return true if every opening bracket has a matching closing bracket in the correct order, otherwise return false.

Function Contract

  • Input: s as a string
  • Output: a boolean

Constraints

  • 0 <= len(s) <= 10^5
  • s may contain JSON punctuation, letters, digits, spaces, and bracket characters
  • Only bracket characters affect validity
  • Return false as soon as an invalid closing bracket is found
