Analyze Nginx 5xx Top IPs

MediumPython

Problem

Write a script to parse an Nginx access log and return the top 10 IP addresses with the highest number of 5xx errors.

Implement def top_5xx_ips(log_lines):, where log_lines is a list of Nginx combined-format log strings. Return a list of at most 10 IP address strings, sorted by descending 5xx count and then lexicographically by IP for ties. Ignore malformed entries and non-5xx responses.

Constraints

  • 1 <= len(log_lines) <= 1000
  • Each log line is a string in Nginx combined-log format or is malformed
  • A valid 5xx status is an integer from 500 through 599
  • Return at most 10 IP addresses
  • Ties are ordered lexicographically by IP address
