Advocating a Technical Path

Your question is Advocating a Technical Path. Take a moment with it on the right.

Talk me through your thinking if you like. When you're confident, submit your answer and I'll grade it like a real screen (7/10 or better passes).

You need to log in / sign up to chat or submit.

Problem

Tell me about a time you had to advocate for a specific technical path against a client's initial preference.

Explain how you understood the client's underlying goals, evaluated the alternatives, and made your recommendation. Describe how you handled disagreement, communicated trade-offs, and maintained trust while influencing the decision.

We are looking for a specific example rather than a general philosophy. Walk through the situation, your actions, the outcome, and what you learned. Be clear about what you owned personally and how you responded if the client did not immediately accept your recommendation.
