Your question is Adjusting for Competitor Actions. Take a moment with it on the right.

Talk me through your thinking if you like. When you're confident, submit your answer and I'll grade it like a real screen (7/10 or better passes).

Problem

If competitor actions or trending/hot events occurred during your analysis window, how would you handle their impact on your results?

Asked in the Round 2 stage. The follow-up concerned why the project used the specific date range 2017.11.25-2017.12.3. The candidate proposed A/B testing; a reported follow-up asked: What metrics should you track in that A/B test?

Requirements

  1. Explain how you would identify and measure competitor or event effects.
  2. Distinguish correlation from causal impact and assess whether the original date range remains valid.
  3. Describe an A/B test and the primary, guardrail, and diagnostic metrics you would track.
  4. State how you would report raw results alongside any adjusted interpretation.

Data Available

Use the project’s KPI data, timestamps, user or traffic segments, experiment assignments, exposure logs, and an event or competitor activity timeline.
