Above-Average Salary

EasySQL · PostgreSQL

Problem

Employees whose salary is above the average.

Asked in the technical stage as a live SQL round using an Employees/Departments schema. The candidate was expected to screen share, run the query, and paste the output in chat.

Output

  1. Return employee_id, employee_name, department, and salary.
  2. Include only employees whose non-null salary is greater than the overall average salary.
  3. Sort by salary descending, then employee_id ascending.
