Early on I had an HR phone call, and then the interviews shifted into engineering depth quickly. I went through a team-lead interview that included a coding round with LeetCode-style questions and a JavaScript-focused discussion on promises. After that came an architect-level system design interview.
For system design, I was asked to design a notifications service for a digital library of books. The scenario included letting users opt into notifications for a book they wanted to borrow, then triggering notifications inside the app and via email once the book was returned to the library. That round was broad and required thinking through the moving parts and how the notification flow would work end to end, not just what a single endpoint would do.

My process started with an assessment that I had to complete at home, and once I passed that, they invited me to an onsite-style test. The onsite test environment felt cramped—more than just the usual interview room energy—and I remember being in a small room with several other applicants, which didn’t sit well with me.
After the onsite, the silence stretched out. It had been close to a month since I completed the test, and I still didn’t get an answer. That lack of communication was especially frustrating because I’d already invested so much time. The whole experience came across as disrespectful rather than simply slow.
