Average Negative United States

I got pulled into a long hiring loop that took the better part of three months. After the recruiter stage, I ended up doing a presentation that required real prep, then moved on to a VP interview, with lots of delays between each step. I kept getting positive signals and being told I was advancing, but it also felt like I had to constantly chase updates, and the recruiter and hiring manager were hard to reach when I needed clarity.

The VP call was the part that gave me the most confidence. They said the next contact from the hiring manager or recruiter would happen “very soon,” but that never materialized. I followed up anyway, and my messages just didn’t get a response. I remember feeling frustrated because there wasn’t even a status update in the system, so I was left guessing what was happening.

Average Negative United States

My Zoom process felt average in structure but rough in how it landed. A recruiter lined up time with a hiring manager and four additional people. Most of the conversations went fine, but one engineer interview stood out immediately because it felt like he had already decided how the interaction would go. He barely spent the expected time with me and didn’t seem eager to learn my background—more like he confirmed his own assumptions as we went.

That’s where the technical details became make-or-break. I got asked about WebRTC protocols and tried to cover the basics, referencing how it uses SIP and RTP and the ICE framework, plus mentioning there are APIs involved. The feedback I received later was that I missed other pieces like DTLS and RTCP, but the bigger issue was the overall lack of openness in the interview, which made the experience feel brittle.
