My interview started with an SQL assignment. It wasn’t framed as super intimidating, and I felt like the timing was reasonable given what they were asking. After that, I moved into a video round on SQL with two people on the call—one interviewer actively asked questions and the other mainly observed. I kept to the full hour they scheduled, and at the end they didn’t try to overrun the clock.

What stood out to me was that they were polite even when the feedback landed in the “go back to basics” territory. The whole thing felt relatively smooth and structured compared to other processes I’d experienced, and the mismatch was less about difficulty and more about how much they expected me to refine foundational SQL understanding. I didn’t end up getting an offer, but I left feeling like the tone was respectful and the evaluation was at least clearly tied to the time-boxed SQL work.
