Average Negative United States

The recruiter stage was the part that threw me off the most. I felt like the interviewer’s questions bounced around, and when I tried to clarify things, the responses were vague. Even something as basic as how they initially contacted me didn’t seem clear, which gave me an immediate “this is a large process” red flag.

The next interaction felt more grounded, though. In that interview, I started with a handful of standard questions like discussing the funniest moment from my past and sharing salary expectations. After that, the conversation became more reflective—focused on my previous life and work experiences rather than jumping straight into deep technical problem-solving.

Easy Positive Tokyo

My interview started with a referral and then moved into a pretty unusual mix of in-person and multi-location coverage. I had multiple face-to-face meetings, including lunch and dinner with the hiring manager, plus sessions with regional sales leadership and engineers based out of Singapore.

On top of that, there were online interviews with peer engineers in the United States, so it wasn’t just one meeting—it was more like a coordinated schedule that pulled in different stakeholders across time zones. The whole thing felt formal and comprehensive in terms of who got involved.
