What is a UX/UI Designer at Wise?
At Wise, a UX/UI Designer—often hired up to the level of Principal Product Designer—plays a pivotal role in executing the company’s core mission: making money move instantly, conveniently, transparently, and eventually for free. Designers at Wise do not work in isolation or merely produce high-fidelity mockups. Instead, they are embedded within autonomous, cross-functional product teams (squads) where they act as strategic partners alongside product managers, engineers, and analysts to solve highly complex, borderless financial problems for millions of global users.
The impact of this role is massive. You will design experiences that span multi-currency accounts, international money transfers, and localized payment infrastructure. Because Wise operates at a global scale, your design decisions will directly affect how individuals and businesses manage their livelihoods across different regulatory frameworks, languages, and financial behaviors. This requires a deep understanding of user psychology, system-level thinking, and the ability to turn confusing financial regulations into intuitive, stress-free user journeys.
To succeed in this position, you must possess a rare blend of exceptional visual craft and rigorous analytical thinking. You will be expected to defend your design choices with data, collaborate deeply with engineers to understand technical constraints, and advocate fiercely for the user. It is a highly demanding but immensely rewarding environment where your work directly shapes the future of global finance.
