Difficult Negative Budapest

I went through a pair-programming style technical round where the task centered on implementing a circuit breaker pattern. The interview started by clarifying requirements and I also had to think out loud as I designed the solution. I initially took a bit to get comfortable with the HackerRank environment, but once I understood the prompt, I built a working approach and kept going.

The time constraint was the main stress point. My implementation took roughly forty to forty-five minutes, and the way the session played out made it feel like there wasn’t much buffer for iterating beyond the first workable direction. When I needed help, it wasn’t always the kind that freed me to think holistically—it was more like guidance that kept me moving inside the narrow lane of what they were looking for.
