I ended up doing an interview that felt pretty hands-on right away. After a quick recruiter-style check, I was brought into the mall setting with a few other people. The supervisor ran through the usual basics, then immediately asked me to talk through what I thought was “in fashion” right now.
Next I went into the store portion of the interview where I was given a customer-style scenario and had to choose outfits for specific situations, covering both afternoon and evening looks. I had to present the outfit choices to the interviewer and explain the thinking behind what I picked. It moved fast, and the overall vibe was straightforward and practical—more about how I’d style and recommend than about anything technical.

Easy Negative Escondido, CA
My interview was normal at first—pretty much the usual questions—but it got uncomfortable because they kept zeroing in on a small gap in my work history tied to school. I tried to keep it high-level, but the interviewer repeatedly pressed on the reason for the gap, and it turned into an insistence that I should explain more.
I ended up refusing to go deeper because it was personal, and the back-and-forth got awkward fast. Each time I declined, the questioning kept coming from the same angle, which honestly didn’t feel like a good fit for the kind of conversation I wanted to have in an interview.
