I moved through an assessment-driven pipeline and then into interviews where the difficulty was less the problem than the communication quality. I started with HackerRank, and then got pulled into a coding interview where the questions were more algorithm-focused, with prompts that required clear explanation and reasoning.
What threw me off wasn’t the content so much as how it was delivered. In my coding interview, I was told the interviewer ahead of time, but the person on the call ended up being someone else, and their English was hard to follow. I could tell they were smart, but they struggled to articulate what the code was supposed to do, and the back-and-forth turned frustrating quickly. There were also moments where the recruiter or process coordination felt unhelpful rather than supportive, which added to the stress.

My biggest problem wasn’t just the coding—it was how unreliable the logistics and communication were. After an initial recruiter contact, I was supposed to receive an HackerRank challenge, but I never got the link when it was expected. I followed up, got an apology and confirmation I’d receive it, and eventually the challenge arrived later—only for the system to claim I hadn’t passed earlier, even though my attempt clearly showed I’d met most of the test cases. I kept emailing to reconcile the conflicting results, but the message repeated.
In other parts of the process, I ran into platform or coordination issues too. One experience involved an OA where the online tool got stuck, so the only way to share work was through email. Another time, the recruiter had trouble contacting me through an educational email address and the scheduling dragged. There were also cases where I simply didn’t solve the online challenges in time and got rejected quickly.
