My process stood out because it felt both drawn out and front-loaded with real work. I interviewed for a contract role across two days. Day one mixed technical questions with soft-skill prompts and included a take-home assignment. Day two was essentially a walkthrough of what I submitted, with follow-up questions that went into the related details behind my approach.

In another part of my overall Walmart Global Tech journey, I went through a very long stretch with multiple interviews back to back—five interviews packed over about two and a half months. It felt hard for someone earlier in their learning curve, but I was closer to mid-senior, so the main challenge became the coding tests, which were still challenging even for experienced developers. Before the real technical questioning, the first couple interviews were more introductory to the people I’d be meeting.

My process felt like it was built as a longer gauntlet rather than quick screens. After an initial screen with the hiring manager, I moved into calls that included a project manager and a manager. Those stages were all about getting a sense of how I’d work with the team.

Then I did live coding in a structured format: I had a shared screen with terminal access and worked through questions via a link, with about an hour allocated for that coding block. After the virtual portion, I had an on-site stage that also focused on coding but this time was on a whiteboard using pseudo code.
