After I applied through the Walgreens site, the process moved quickly. I got contacted within about a week, then I ended up doing a screening step and, in most cases, an in-person interview with a store manager or assistant manager. The vibe was friendly and welcoming, and it felt mostly behavioral and straightforward—things like why I wanted to work there, what I’d bring to the role, what exceptional customer service meant to me, and questions about my prior experience. Availability and hours came up a lot too, especially if I was juggling school or another job.
A few days to a couple of weeks after that, I had follow-ups that were still pretty light-touch. Some interviews stayed strictly conversational and focused on situational examples—how I handled difficult customer interactions, how I worked within a team, and what I was reliable for. When there was extra structure, it usually showed up as a short assessment that took around 20 minutes and leaned toward work style or personality fit, and in at least one case there was also a brief math check because cash handling was part of the job. Even when the questions felt “in depth,” they still came across as fair and relatable.
