My interview journey felt like a deliberately structured funnel. It began with a recruiter call where we covered my background at a high level, including salary expectations and basic role fit, and then later I moved into hiring-manager-style conversations and technical rounds. Depending on seniority, the schedule could include a couple different technical interviews, but the general arc was consistent.

In the technical segment, I ran into a mix of Java and microservices topics alongside system design and coding. There were also scenario-style questions rather than only “how would you do X” theory. Across the process, the emphasis wasn’t purely academic; I was asked situational and personality-based questions too, centered on teamwork, problem-solving, and motivation, and the atmosphere stayed professional but still friendly enough that I could be honest about my experience.

I interacted with a panel format that felt practical and job-focused. After an initial step to get me scheduled, I joined an interview session with multiple team members, and the conversation moved through a lot of technical questions tied to the role. The tone stayed friendly and not particularly tense, and the panel asked questions in-session rather than reading off a script.

What surprised me was how much of the discussion stayed grounded in the everyday job expectations, with questions around the job’s domain and how I approached the work. I didn’t feel like the interview was trying to catch me out, and the interaction didn’t drag into unnecessary complexity.
