The hiring process started with an HR call where they asked a few standard questions, including what I expected in terms of compensation. Shortly after, I was given a test assignment and told it needed to be completed at home. I put serious effort into it over several days and it really took over my schedule.
When I finally submitted it and reached back out for feedback, the situation turned frustrating: I was told they didn’t have the budget. That didn’t make sense to me, because the assignment had already been sent out as if they were evaluating closely. It felt like a mismatch between the time investment they required and the actual decision they made afterward.

After a short introductory chat with a business development manager, the process moved quickly into a coding step. I was given a repository and asked to improve it, so the focus was very much on working through an existing codebase rather than starting from scratch. After that, I had a face-to-face technical conversation with tech leads and project managers where we stayed on the technical side and discussed relevant topics tied to the work.
What stood out to me was the structure: a simple first discussion to get aligned, then a hands-on coding test, and only after that deeper technical questions in person. The overall tone felt professional and fairly direct, and the interview lasted about three quarters of an hour for the earlier part. After the coding and technical conversations, I ended up waiting to see if anything came from it, and that follow-up never really felt like it built momentum.
