After applying online, I connected with HR pretty quickly and then moved into a Zoom interview with the direct manager. The conversation felt fairly smooth and not overly intense, and it was mostly about my experience—simple questions that let me talk through my background clearly.
At another point in the process, I had an hour-long Zoom interview with a lab PI. That one was pretty chill too, with not too many questions, and the PI seemed to want to get a sense of me as a person rather than just extracting rehearsed answers. Even when it was easygoing, the pace mattered, and the interviewer essentially encouraged me to move on if I didn’t feel like the outreach timeline was progressing. Overall, it felt like a medium-effort, manager-and-PI-style screening where fit and communication mattered more than tricky problems.

After that technical part, there was an English proficiency check in a separate interview. The overall difficulty felt hard because the work was very concrete and specific to my projects, and they followed up tightly enough that I couldn’t stay at a high level. I ended up getting an offer, and the fact that they went through both deep research discussion and language screening made the final decision feel more comprehensive than casual.
