I completed an interview loop for an SDE2 backend role at Uber India and went into the process expecting the recruiter to wrap it up with a debrief decision. After the loop finished, I was informed that the role I’d been interviewing for was closed and that there weren’t any other openings available at the moment.
The recruiter had previously mentioned that a final call after debrief would be the decisive “hire” moment, but the closing-of-the-role explanation changed the ending. So even though the loop itself got completed, the result wasn’t based on an offer-ready evaluation—it was tied to timing and headcount. I left feeling uncertain about how much I could influence once the position was already shut down.
