My first red flag came before I even got very far in the process. After applying, I was hit with an auto-rejection email without any real conversation, and follow-up didn’t initially feel like it would change that. When a recruiter did finally speak with me, the tone was off—staying scripted and sounding unprepared about basic details of the role.
The live rounds I went through were also uneven in a way that made it hard to feel confident in the process. I saw moments where the hiring manager seemed disengaged and awkward, and I also ran into a mock-call/presentation style evaluation where some steps felt like busywork rather than a meaningful test. One process took a lot of work for what was described as an early-career role, and the sheer number of interviews only made that mismatch feel worse.

The process felt like it was building toward a final decision: multiple panels, multiple perspectives, and a clear sense that they wanted my background mapped to the role.
The overall tone was mixed but still structured. In some parts it felt very respectful and “human,” with people trying to understand my situation and even working around scheduling conflicts with empathy. At the same time, I also experienced friction on communication and flow—at one point the recruiter interrupted and didn’t leave room for my questions, and I never got the kind of closure that would normally come with a process moving to the next stage. Even when I felt supported, the process could still end abruptly.
