My most shocking interview started with a technical kind of surprise: the TA waited until I joined the video call and then told me the role I’d applied for had already closed. Instead of stopping there, she offered me a different role to consider.
When I asked for time to think it through, she told me I only had the day itself to decide and then ended the call quickly—under ten minutes total. It left me feeling rushed and unsupported, especially because the change came so late in the process.

Average Negative Canada
I went through several rounds with teams at different levels, including a panel interview. The overall journey felt standard in the sense that I kept meeting new stakeholders and answering their questions, and I got the sense they were taking the process seriously.
At the end, I was told the position would be put on hold for a period of time. I was even encouraged to keep in touch so they could circle back when it reopened. That sounded reasonable until I learned the role had effectively been moved forward immediately after the process—given to an internal candidate rather than being paused and reopened.
