My journey was fast and technical, starting with a substantial onsite coding assessment. I had about two hours for the coding work, and it set the tone immediately—this wasn’t just a quick screen. A short time after that, I did a follow-up interview with a team member where they drilled into my resume and prior projects, especially anything technical I’d built or used.
The technical questions leaned heavily into probability and stats intuition and also into logical thinking rather than memorizing formulae. Across the process, the rounds on video felt like a sequence: earlier conversations focused on my CV and how I solved problems, while the later round turned more concrete with live coding. I also remember the interviews spending a lot of time probing my understanding of data work in Python—how I process data, handle storage, and reason about general software structure.

My interview process had a distinct “research plus coding” vibe. I started with a set of interviews with a well-known team, and alongside that I completed a HackerRank take-home. That take-home took roughly three hours and came as multiple research problems laid out as individual notebook tasks.
What surprised me was how unclear the expectations felt. The prompt requirements were vague and didn’t really spell out what level of output they wanted. One of the coding problem descriptions was even wrong, which made the whole experience more stressful than it needed to be. When I finally got to talk with interviewers, the conversations were mostly about my past work—what I did at previous jobs—and there wasn’t much general discussion beyond that.
