After a recruiter contact, my process moved into management conversations fairly quickly. I talked first with a recruiter/scheduler on the phone, then later met virtually with the people I’d be working alongside, including a program manager and a vice president who would be my direct manager. The vibe across those calls was mostly about whether I could handle the job as an account executive—what challenges I expected, how I thought about the role, and how comfortable I was building rapport.

Once I got in front of sales leadership, the interviews felt more structured. I had a conversation-style screening with the hiring team, and at some point a more formal round covered compensation/commission mechanics and what the job actually required day to day. The overall tone stayed pretty professional; even when it leaned heavily on qualifying questions, it didn’t feel like a technical obstacle course.

I had a pretty straightforward, low-friction hiring flow that still made it clear the role was all about selling and fit. I started with a phone call through a recruiter, then moved into an in-person discussion with a sales manager where the focus was on explaining the role and expectations. After that, I went through an on-site pitch, and I was even invited back to do a self-driven sales pitch meant to see whether I could convince buyers to hire me.

Across the rounds, the questions were largely basic and conversation-based. I remember being asked about my sales background and giving examples, but it never turned into deep technical questioning. The interviewers emphasized what the job involved, how the company operated, and who they expected me to be day-to-day. Even when one manager seemed more focused on their own perspective than mine, the process still didn’t feel complicated.
