I interviewed for a Backend engineering role on the Trust and Safety team, and the whole process felt very team- and org-dependent. After the recruiter portion, I went straight into a single technical round focused on problem solving and live coding. What stood out immediately was that it didn’t feel like the typical LeetCode-heavy format; instead, the focus was on clean coding practices.
During that round, I was asked to design a vending machine. The interviewer cared about how I structured the solution and communicated my reasoning, more than about cranking through classic algorithm patterns. The experience had that “build it clearly” vibe—less about memorized problem types and more about writing code in a maintainable way while thinking through the behavior.

Difficult Negative United States
I went through a pretty hard technical process where the logistics and communication themselves added stress. After the first parts, I hit two rounds of coding where I ended up answering lots of background questions too, and the interaction felt strange—there were issues with the interviewer camera and questions were asked in Mandarin even though the role was in English. The pace of communication from recruiters was also very slow, which made it harder to keep my train of thought while coding.
The coding problems leaned medium-hard in leetcode difficulty, but the real problem was that everything took longer than it should have, so even when I understood what to do, it was tough to execute cleanly under the timing. I never felt fully comfortable in the flow of the conversation, and that uncertainty definitely affected how confidently I could reason through the solutions.

What to expect
Distilled from the reports
Interview Structure & Timeline
The interview process typically consists of multiple rounds, beginning with a recruiter screen followed by technical interviews focused on coding and algorithms, often culminating in behavioral discussions. Candidates should expect a structured sequence, generally moving from technical to behavioral evaluations.
Candidates face a mix of LeetCode-style coding questions, often at a medium difficulty level, with an emphasis on clean coding practices and explaining thought processes. Expect follow-up questions on time and space complexity, as well as optimization discussions during coding sessions.
